The artwork presented is a retrospective to Typhoon Odette, which affected the artist greatly. Through visual symbols and representations, the artist insinuates ordeal and struggle brought up by the typhoon.
About the Artist
Densen Almeda (b. 2002) is a 22-year old artist currently taking up Bachelor of Fine Arts, Major in Studio Arts in University of the Philippines – Cebu. Almeda’s drawings and renditions on paint and canvas are narratives about personal experiences, sociopolitical statements and cultural homage.
Drawn to different forms of art, Almeda blended his interest on modern and minimalistic design with visual arts. His use of surrealistic, pop and naturalistic approach in painting got national recognition and grants. He was a semifinalist of Metrobank Art Competition and a grantee of NCCA Bagong Biswal. Utilizing forms and colors to tell stories, Almeda uses symbols to illuminate the depths of his subject.
