    About the Artwork/s

Regina Reyes’ work for the exhibit is inspired by Marcus Aurelius’ book – Meditations. It is her own take on one’s personal thoughts, realizations, and lessons learned along the way.

    About the Artist

Regina Reyes was born in the city of Manila in the early nineties. Raised in an ancestral house in a township in the province of Rizal, a childhood and adolescence spent within the confines of a home steeped in heritage influenced and ignited what can be considered an enduring exploration of home, the familial, the ephemeral and the everlasting, which, until now, permeates and illuminates even her most recent body of work.

In recent years Reyes diverged her art practice into several branches. In every puncture and pull of her needlework she ruminates the tangled, difficult complexity of womanhood. In her collages she enlists her environs as collaborator and co-author, and with written word, paintings and sculptures she contemplates the fleeting with the immutable—recognizing beauty within the swirls and eddies of everyday life.

Reyes received her B.F.A from the University of the Philippines’ College of Fine Arts in Diliman in 2017. In 2021, her solo exhibition Temporal Dwellings was held at Mono8 Gallery. In the same year, another one-woman exhibit entitled No One’s Rushing on a Sunday was presented at Galerie Stephanie. In late 2022, she held her third solo exhibition Notes on Surrender, followed by what is considered to be a sequel show entitled Chasing the Quiet in January 2023. Her work has been included in a number of art fairs across the archipelago and in numerous group exhibitions since 2014.

She divides her life and her art practice between the cities of Manila and General Santos, South Cotabato in Mindanao. – Liv Vinluan
