About the Artwork
This underwater edition of Borromeo’s Glow in the dark series explores the mysterious water worlds of the Seahorse and the Sea dragon. These fantastical creatures are unlike anything ever seen before. Able to capture the imagination with their unique look as they glide gracefully through the seafloor and kelp gardens; occasionally grasping at strands of seagrass with their tails. legends of the sea paint these fascinating creatures as symbolizing strength and power but in a subtle way.
“Seadragon is a wonderful, gentle guide for people who need to learn how to slow down and ‘go with the flow.’ Seadragon teaches us how to accept and embrace placidity, not as a sign of ‘laziness,’ but as a way to move in time with the deeper currents of the earth. Seadragon teaches us to be more free-flowing, and in turn relaxation and a more peaceable way of existing follows.”

ARTIST STATEMENT – I paint because it gives me joy and my intention when I create, is to spread it. As human beings, some of us have forgotten how to be connected. I want to feel a sense of belonging again. My quest is for feeling, and by provoking the same feeling in others we can connect through art.
I try to reignite a sense of awe and curiosity in individuals who view my art. I think it is important to keep a child-like wonder for life, especially in adulthood. That’s why the element of play is such an integral part of my creation process. Whether that is experimenting with glow in the dark paint, tracing paper and thread, etc. I allow my imagination to run free and explore the possibilities of what each material and medium can offer me.
Nature is a subject that I find myself constantly coming back to; because it is so vast, there are many things that I can be inspired by. Plants, animals and human beings interest me most and usually this can lead to anthropomorphic and whimsical qualities in my work.
