    About the Artist

Born in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture in 1982, after dropping out of high school, Jame started to study painting by himself. Despite being influenced by Surrealism and Van Gogh, he arrived in 2009 with a unique technique called acrylic scratch.

Acrylic scratch is a technique similar to chou lacquer, in which layers of acrylic paint are applied in various colors and then carved with a chisel. The psychedelic pattern created by the carved pattern and the stack of colors seen through the carving mouth gives the viewer an unforgettable and powerful impact. In addition, the colors that appear on the surface have the contingency that even the artist himself does not know until he scrapes them, and the variations of creation are endless. Acrylic paint with many layers applied is very heavy, and its weight may be a symbol of the artist’s effort and accumulated time. The style, which can be said to be a new abstract expression, is highly popular not only in Japan but also in Europe and America.
