    About the Artwork

    From the artist:
Life & Living is an exercise on graphic design, intuition, feeling and spontaneity. For the 4 new works, I had no specific brief and strict guidelines to follow (no text/copy provided, no required photos to use, no color scheme required, no specific style/aesthetic or peg to follow). So I wanted to be free in my process. I took the opportunity to experiment and explore. More intuitive, less analytical. No overthinking. Spontaneous and momentum-driven. I took inspiration in whatever I felt during the process. Music I was listening too, random thoughts in my head, my current mood for the day. The only restriction I imposed on myself was to only use photos I personally took. No downloaded photos or photos taken by other people.

    About the Artist

I’ve been doing graphic design as a profession for 13 years now. As a graphic designer, I’m used to being given a specific brief and set of guidelines. Visual assets and materials already provided by the client. I just gotta figure shit out how to put em together and compose em. I enjoy both working solo and with a collaborator or a team. Most of the time I spend more time studying, doing research and background, planning my execution about a project than the actual time spent in front of the computer designing. I like disruption and imperfection on layouts. Every time I’m given total creative freedom to design, sometimes I would intentionally misalign a text or a photo, make it off-grid. Or use a typeface that’s so crass to create disruption and imperfection. Sticking to design rules and fundamentals tend to be monotonous, repetitive and boring to me. I value the process a lot. I try to enjoy the process as much as possible aside from the fulfilment I get from the output or finished product.

    About his art background:
first fcuked with digital art when I was in 5th grade, ms paint. Took up digital art as my elective back in HS. Photoshop 5.0. Used to enjoy drawing a lot when I was a kid but got more interested in layouts and design as I got older. Dabbled in street art and graffiti too during my youth. I enjoy taking photos and filming stuff too, it’s my creative refresher and sort of therapy every time I feel burnout from doing graphic design work.
