About the Artwork
Part of “Sunday At The Dog Beach” series.
In Sunday At The Dog Beach, Terbu distills five years’ worth of experiences living in Asia. The culture, customs and behavioural norms all infuse his paintings. The works tell a familiar story through familiar colors mixed by the hands of an itinerant artist in an attempt to explore the finality of gender and cultural identity. And of course, there’s the occasional flash of the artist’s Austrian roots.
About the Artist
Ingo Terbu is an Austrian painter who has been living in China and the Philippines for longer than 5 years.
In his work on large canvasses, he addresses clichés around classic gender norms – a playful clash of gender, fashion and sexuality. His style is bold, figurative and contemporary with strong notes of pop art.
