Searching for nothing in the elusive subconscious

Modeka Art is proud to present the solo exhibition by 0270501 entitled “Searching for nothing in the elusive subconscious – a post isolation pandemic retrospective on Ephemeral abstraction, Objectual autonomy, Digital immateriality”

“We donʼt feel responsible to the preconceived notion of art, weʼre more inclined to explorations and experimentation, the curiosity of changing tides or living in an optimistic society where art could actually influence change”

0270501ʼs “Searching for nothing in the elusive subconscious” brings together the original works created in the initial quarantine isolation, The purpose is to revisit, with the same intensity and energy, the material research of the time, and engage visitors in the artistʼs open-ended, process-oriented techniques.

Characterized by a new approach where everything was left to the liberating process of doing, where the viewer was not impeded by
boundaries, protection systems, perimeters, the exhibition became a dialectical field of the encounter between the artworks themselves and between time and space they occupy: a place where the works formed links with each other, in a kind of continuously evolving organic weave.

The collection consists of works spanning from the start of the pandemic to the ever continuous government-mandated isolations, the uncertain inflexibility serves as a reintroduction to 0270501. A selective survey representing overlapping bodies of work in an attempt to capture their nature, including work that has never been exhibited. An exercise in perspectives: in the same way that the art movements of post-war abstract expressionists responded to their moment of time, the result is an abstract and radical juxtaposition of works that produce new research into innovation and progressive experimental practices, the exhibition highlights ongoing inquiry into how we relate to objects – and how they can heal us.

Chastened by pandemic-era burnout, the act of transferring the exhibition in its entirety, made up of the interlacement of ideas, material, and visual ensembles, created an estrangement. This is also deeply linked to the challenges of our time: questions of sustainability, social responsibility, and spirituality. “Exhausted from
nonstop working from home, we started setting up alarms, not to wake up, but to remind us, its time to stop, breathe, and rest.”
These ideas are not directly connected to one another, yet they all stem from the same source, a multitude of conceptual thoughts emerging from the subconscious meaning that there arenʼt any unification of any idea, they all appear fragmented, relying on the thoughts and meaning thatʼs unique to every individual.

“Searching for nothing in the elusive subconscious – a post isolation pandemic retrospective on Ephemeral abstraction, Objectual autonomy, Digital immateriality” is on view from September 25 to October 16, 2021.
