About the Artwork

Walls is a personal catalog of illustrated images of walls or surfaces I’ve encountered in the past. This catalog project was born out of the longing to see walls beyond my own home during the first few months of the community quarantine.

ARTIST STATEMENT – I never knew how to describe my work until someone told me it was light-hearted, which means happy and not serious. I think that’s a good description of the works I’ve done and how I am as a graphic designer. I want to present designs that are meaningful but are easy on the eye.

About the Artist

Vanilla Arucan is an Arts Management graduate and a self-taught graphic designer from Manila, Philippines. She has a focus on poster and ephemera design (printed items of collectible memorabilia). She aims to produce meaningful work through simple combinations of text, form, color, and shape. She is currently experimenting with silkscreen printing.
