Aleth Ocampo

Ocampo sculpts functional vessels, to which she merges her experience in painting.

BIOGRAPHY

A chef by profession, Aleth juggles her time between kitchen duties and making art in her home studio.

Aleth Ocampo was born on 04 April 1965 to Lamberto Un Ocampo (+) and Belen Raymundo Ocampo (+) . She has two siblings Dr Ambeth R. Ocampo and Annabelle O. Sarmiento

She graduated as a Painting Major from the College of Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines in 1989. Prior to college, she graduated with a diploma from Institut Villa Pierrefeu in Montreux, Switzerland which is the only existing Finishing School in Switzerland today.

As an artist, she has had several solo exhibits of her paintings at Finale Art File and Art Informal. For ceramics, she has had two solo exhibits at Commune Café and Aphro Living.

In her younger years, she took on apprentice work to broaden her knowledge in the field of arts. She was an apprentice at the studio of Romulo Galicano for 2 summers. She also assisted art restorer Angelito David as he worked on Manansala’s Stations of the Cross in the UP Diliman Chapel. She worked as a research assistant under the office of the President of the University of the Philippines. She was assigned to catalog the university’s art collection and interview the artists or their descendants.

She has also joined numerous group shows and showed her paintings and ceramic works at Finale Art File, Art Informal, J Studio, Bencab Museum and Museo Iloilo.
