Jason Moss works across painting, sculpture & installations, often juggling with a range of multiple themes and subject matter mostly concerning the human condition and how its immediate environment lends itself using a confluence of camp, pop culture, and the obscure.

The figurative work of father and son set against a backdrop of a community park with skeletal pigeons in this 20 by 20 inch acrylic on canvas is Moss’ response time/ memory. It is an image of him at age 2 and a half with his father. His father used to walk him to the village park every day after buying pandesal and newspapers at the village store. He would then lead the young Moss to an open basketball court usually crowded with pigeons and just let him run at them, startling the pigeons to the young Moss’ delight. Moss uses these figures that are clearly referenced from diaphonized animals, wherein flesh becomes milk white to translucent and some parts of bone are deep red to bright pink. The narrative within the picture denotes the fragility of life.
