BIOGRAPHY

Jon Red studied painting and visual arts at the Philippine High School for the Arts and University of the Philippines.

Red attended a film workshop at the Mowelfund Film Institute sponsored by the Goethe Institute and exhibited in various group art shows including the Heritage Art Gallery, U.P., Cultural Center of the Philippines, National Arts Center, Kulay-diwa galleries, MO Art Gallery, Metropolitan Museum of Manila, Altromondo.

Red has written and directed several short films, such as: “Es” which earned him the award of Best Jury Prize at the Mondiale de la Video in Brussels (Belgium); “Still Lives” - a pioneering digital film screened as Official Selection at the 2000 Singapore International Film Festival; “Utang ni Tatang”, which won best cinematography and production design at the 2002 Manila Film Festival; "Tiempo" and "Trip", both produced by Mowelfund and Best Short Film awardees of the Gawad Urian (92 and 93);  "ASTIGmatism", which won the Silver DV Award at the 28th Hongkong International Film Festival (2004). 

Jon Red is a recipient of the First Inquirer Indie Tribute (2010).
