Sinta Tantra

Her diverse practice ranges from painting to site-specific sculptural interventions and large-scale public artworks.

BIOGRAPHY

Tantra’s works usually merge art and architecture with patterns and colors that mirror her Balinese heritage. Heavily influenced by the works of conceptual artist, Sol Lewitt, Tantra is widely recognized in her ability to create intricate works that exceed the canvas or gallery space.

A British artist of Balinese descent, Sinta Tantra was born in New York in 1979. She studied in London at the Slade School of Fine Art (1999-2003) and at the Royal Academy Schools (2004-06).

Highly regarded for her public artworks both in the UK and internationally, Tantra’s most notable public work includes a 300-metre long painted bridge commissioned for the 2012 Olympics, Canary Wharf, London.
