“La Gran Mentira”
Promises are often made by those in positions of power, whether they are leaders, authorities, or public figures. These promises can take on various forms, such as commitments to equality, justice, or progress. They are like threads of hope, woven into the fabric of our social consciousness, evoking aspirations and ideals.
Deception can often lurk beneath the surface. Those who hold positions of authority may engage in manipulation, concealment, or distortion of truth, masking their true intentions or breaking their commitments. Deception can be like a veil that obscures reality, revealing the darker side of leadership, where self-interest, dishonesty, and abuse of power can undermine the original promises.
I seek to explore and challenge the intricacies of these dynamics through my work. I use various objects, mediums and techniques to visually depict the nuances of promises, deception, and governance. My works may question the status quo, expose duplicity, or shed light on the consequences of broken commitments.
