Artist Focus:

Lynyrd Paras

Lynyrd’s dark and, sometimes, uncomfortable depictions of the people around him lead us to ponder about the relationships we maintain and how we dwell with one another.

What are the usual themes in your work?

My work is always about the feeling of stabbing myself and putting out the knife with my own hands then asking myself if I will smile after or I will just die.

Tell us about your latest project/s or anything you are currently working on.

I’m working on a show about attacking a wounded surface.

How do you study or research for a project?

Going out to the devil town or talking to fire at 3 AM. I also talk to flowers or stones sometimes.

What are the processes involved in your art-making?

My favorite part in my art making is hurting myself in the process or hurting others accidentally.

When working for an exhibition, how do you know which work to include?

I just know when to stop.

Name some of the artists who have influenced you in your practice.

Eugene Jarque, Francis Bacon, Anselm Kiefer and Lorenza Villanueva.

Among your works, which of them could be called your favorites?
" Wasak kung Wasak" , "Nang Makilala ko and Demonyo, Nasa Loob na to ng aking Ulo" and "Love".
